Hugo de Groot tablecloth

Winner of the Delft Tableware Design Competition 2011 by BlueDot, de TU Delft, Royal Delft and the Delft municipality. The objective of the design competition was to relate the history of the city of Delft to a tableware set.

One of the most famous inhabitants of Delft was Hugo de Goot. His escape story from the castle of Loevenstein is still today one of the most appealing histories of the Netherlands. Inspired by Hugo de Groot’s escape and achievements JONGHLABEL designed in cooperation with Servé Custers a tablecloth with matching napkins. The tablecloth shows De Groot’s escape route and the napkins depict the main personas from this exciting story. In this way De Groot’s lifestory joins the dinner table conversations.
